Alex Jago and Emma Doyle have known each other for many years, especially working in the Coach Education department for Tennis Australia. This interview took place in 2018 when Alex was the Victorian National Tennis Academy Manager and he is now the Para-sport Performance Pathway Manager at Paralympics Australia. Alex lives and breathes the 3 top qualities that he believes make a great coach, they are: Listener, caring, and learner.

Alex Jago is a tertiary qualified, former top 10 ITA ranked (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) player with extensive experience in High-Performance Program Leadership, Talent Development, Coach Development, Athlete Wellbeing and strategic sports development design, I have the passion to influence, educate and shape the future of Australian sport. Having worked in sport and leadership roles for Tennis Australia and the University of Memphis (NCAA Division 1 University). His experience places him in a strong position to educate, lead and influence coaches, athletes, and stakeholders in any sport environment. He is a leader, manager and coach that demonstrates care and continued growth for his peers and athletes.

His coaching and leadership philosophy is centered on a growth mind-set, maintaining high standards, with a strong focus on wellbeing principles and creating a culture of inclusive and personal best habits, which promotes an environment that people want to be a part of. This type of environment is centered around a holistic view of development of the person and the performer.
